in kuala lumpur, malaysia. will, any reason for the addition of the third ship? >> reporter: hey, guys. no reason has been given to why there are three ships in the bay of bengal. keep in mind, these were ships not involved in the search off western australia. this is the bangladeshi military to send ships in the area. one ship has the side-scan sonar technology to scan the floor to see if it can find the trace of debris. that's important. the water in this area is not as deep as it is off western australia. these ships, according to the officials here in malaysia, should have the tools capable to scan the surface and see if there is debris floating. unlikely considering we're in week nine here. also, there is the side-scan sonar to put to work as well. the tone that we're hearing here in kuala lumpur is that for now, they will wait and see what the ships in bangladesh find before making a decision to divert additional resources which would be expensive and take away time from the primary search area off western australia. >> i have to think this is a topic of conversation on monday wi

the latest information we have now on that desperate search for malaysia flight 370. the airline has told families staying at a beijing hotel it's time to go. malaysia air said they'd be better off waiting for updates "in the comfort of their own homes." cnn's david mckenzie's been speaking to some of the family members and filed this report. >> reporter: after nearly two months of agonizing waiting to find out what happened to their loved ones, hundreds of family members here in beijing were given an ultimatum to leave. they were told they had to leave their hotel where they had been based by both malaysian authorities, malaysian airlines and the chinese government. some family members told us they didn't have a choice and they're given an evening deadline to get out of that hotel. but some of them have said they wanted to leave for some time, and for many, it's a relief. >> we'll move on to the next stage and still keep on fighting for the truth and for where the plane is, where our loved ones are. we'll keep on with it. we'll never give up. nothing for me, because living here or living

're getting new details in the search for malaysia flight 370 where the bluefin underwater search device has just wrapped up its 18th mission without finding any, any debris. we're learning this isn't the end of its deployment, though. anna is joining us from perth, australia. what can you tell us, anna? >> reporter: wolf, far from the end of this search, if anything, it's just gearing up. as you say, the 18th mission has completed with no sign of debris from mh-370. now, we know that the "ocean shield" will be coming back to port here in perth in the next few days to restock and refuel before heading back out. we know that the search is heading into a new phase, which will cover an area of some 20,000 square miles north to where they have been searching. we believe that this will take, according to authorities, between eight months to a year to cover this entire area. but as far as authorities are concerned, they are meeting in kambra and we'll be there to tell you what happens. >> anna coren in perth for us. let's bring in miles o'brien and cnn's richard quest. what do you make of the meet

in malaysia what happened to the plane. during that time, the plane unexpectedly turned left eventually crossing. the report shows during this time malaysia airlines may have added to the confusion sending two messages to air traffic control. both of which turned out to be false. the first at 2:03 a.m. claiming the plane was in cambodian air space, it was not. the second message at 2:35 a.m. saying the plane was tracking to beijing. again, the information water wrong. 5:30 a.m., four hours after the plane disappeared from radar search and rescue was alerted. precious time lost to confusion. the plane continued south far into the indian ocean. the last partial satellite communication coming at 8:19 a.m. the report includes maps of three possible crash sites, red indicating the most likely. also released, passenger seating assignments in the cargo manifest, which lists lithium ion batteries as some of the materials transported. the report is brief containing one recommendation saying that realtime flight should become the international standard. >> and i understand, family members of the
